The Health Benefits of Juicing

By Vanetta Panitz

There are a lot of benefits associated with the juicing of fruits and vegetables. One of the best ways of looking at this is to imagine all of the different combinations you can make of the different sorts of vegetables when you create a juice drink. And the thing is that very few people would eat the whole foods in that way. So there is a creative aspect to juicing but it's based on solid information. You can mix different ingredients to achieve very specific effects and many people do that.

Efficiency is just about the best word to associate with juicing...maybe. It might simply be our opinion but you really can't argue when it comes to efficiency. Where cooking and juicing are concerned it is important to understand that you need to do some cleaning up after you do both of them. Consider, however, that you can easily prepare a nutritious drink for a meal. This is a breakfast that you can drink on your way to work or school. If you do that, then pick your ingredients wisely because your stomach will be empty. You may not want to make a powerhouse juice drink that slams your belly first thing in the morning. It is going to be a guaranteed wake up call so make sure you choose ingredients your empty stomach can handle.

There are probably truly few unique health benefits associated with juicing even though lots of marketing will suggest otherwise. That does not mean, though, that juicing is a terrible idea. Quite the contrary, juicing is still a great idea for several reasons we've talked about in so many articles.

I feel it's important that you avoid falling for any hype marketing about the subject. Juicing is a lifestyle choice that will help you get the best nutrition and it works quite a lot better than taking a vitamin. It is still a good idea to do both, however--it shouldn't cause a problem. This is how you can more or less cover all the bases and ensure you're getting everything that you need to get.

There isn't really any way to know for sure how many nutrients are consumed when you compare juicing to cooking foods. But one thing is certain about many people which is their digestive systems are compromised. Many different factors come into play here and they all reduce the efficiency of our metabolism. One of the most often heard arguments by people who are pro-juicing is that it is a really great work-around. This is is pretty easy to figure out: all of the nutrients are going to be in the juice. It's definitely different than a whole food but it still is digested. However, the digestion of juices is probably much better and easier than whole foods for many people.

It will be much easier to do a good job of juicing and getting good nutrition from it if you educate yourself first. For example, you can learn about certain fruits that are often used with veggie juice drinks. There are lots of reasons to do this, beginning with the fact that it is common knowledge amongst experienced juicers.
