Botox for your Wedding?

By Anne Fennell

Many couples are in the final stages of planning their weddings, such an important life event, as wedding season approaches. On this big day, it's natural for everyone to want to look their best. Hundreds of dollars is sometimes spent by both women and men on beauty products and skincare treatments, in the run-up to their wedding.

Getting a facial or a back massage is the perfect way to relax during the stressful few months before a wedding. You can unwind by going to a spa or getting your nails done, even if all the planning can get extremely hectic. You might also look into another treatment that is becoming more popular with the soon-to-be-wed. To look their best, more and more brides and grooms to-be are turning to Botox. At a wedding, there is a lot of pressure to impress; it is important that you feel confident in your skin, because the pictures are going to stay with you for the rest of your life.

How much in advance of the wedding is the best timing for getting Botox?

At least one month before the big day, you should have the Botox injections. Make sure you have a test-run done; even though Botox treatment is quick and safe, if you have never had it before it is understandable that you may feel a little nervous. We advise you to have it done at least a month before though, because it can take about 7-14 days to see the full effects after the initial treatment.

When you are arranging wedding activities like stags and stagettes, keep in mind that you should avoid alcohol, facial massages and extreme changes in temperature such as steam rooms and saunas for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure.

Botox injections are relatively painless but you might find that you experience slight tenderness and mild pain during the injection. Immediately after the injection, there may be some minor swelling; but after about 30 minutes this normally settles. You may also get some slight bruising the next day, which is relatively uncommon, and is why we recommend you to get it done in advance.

Botox is usually a good treatment for the wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, and frown lines. Your facial expressions may show how you are overwhelmed with emotions during the big day. If you have any unwanted horizontal lines across your forehead, or frown lines in the area between your eyebrows, or crow's feet in the outer corner of the eyes and you want to get rid of them for your wedding, you can with the help of Botox.

Also popular as preparation for a wedding or other significant occasion is an excessive sweating treatment called hyperhidrosis. A likely problem on an important occasion, such as your wedding, is excessive sweating; some people are prone to it, in response to hot temperatures, stress or emotion.

If you are engaged to marry and you are considering Botox, make sure you get it done at least one month before to ensure your muscles have time to respond, and the treatment to take full effect.
