Getting Online Training Vs. In-person Training For Administering Botox

By Alina Karemin

Botox injections are the more common name for botulinum toxin injections, which are a very popular cosmetic procedure these days. Highly specialized Botox treatments are used for a wide variety of symptoms, including smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, and for other kinds of medical issues as well. Training for healthcare professionals to be able to inject Botox can be rather rigorous and requires certain needs to be met. The internet is a great resource for knowledge, and some people are looking to the web to get the certification needed to deliver these treatments.

But does online training help when it comes to Botox injections? The other option is to learn in-person. Well, the answer is that both of them go hand-in-hand. Let's take a look at this further.

Getting online training

Training over the internet has some advantages including being able to work at your own speed and when the time is best for learning. Online training is not only limited to courses or short videos but can also include live seminars and webinars. DVDs are another option, and these are provided by many training courses.

Online education is beneficial in many ways, but we must remember that Botox treatments can only happen in-person. It is pretty much impossible to learn a procedure just by watching it without actually practicing it. One can't learn heart surgery by watching videos of a highly skilled surgeon performing the operation. Everyone learns by practicing on patients under supervision and eventually performing the procedure independently.

Hands-on training

This kind of hands-on training happens with a patient who volunteers for the procedure, and at times a training dummy is also used. This is supervised usually by a doctor and the trainee will re-do the process over and over, until the doctor is certain that it can be done independently with a high degree of safety for the patient. The trainee will get a great benefit from this kind of training since the professional is on-hand, and mistakes can be corrected; this won't happen by training on the internet because criticism is not possible.

Probably the main disadvantage of hands-on training is the required manpower. It's a challenge to find the time for a busy professional to go to a training seminar in order to show trainees the correct procedures. The venue will need to be organized and this sort of activity can take time. But if one would consider the bigger picture i.e. the effectiveness and the safety of a patient, hands-on training is far superior when compared to online training methods.

Online and hands-on training combined

Learning to administer Botox injections is best done by using both of these methods. Before attending a hands-on training program, a trainee would benefit highly by watching videos about the procedure online, and reading about the theory behind it. After viewing and learning from the internet, the trainee can go to the hands-on training with sufficient knowledge to go through the processes much easier. This form of training seems to work very well these days. Animations are now created that show the procedures in vivid detail, this will ensure that a trainee has the necessary information at hand for when they go to the Botox injection hands-on training in the future.

Summary

Botox injection training is best accomplished using both online and hands-on training. Both methods have their unique advantages, and when they are used in conjunction with each other, the most is gained by trainees learning Botox treatment methods.
