Shed Some Pounds Using Appetite Curbing Foods

By Robin Stevens

Sometimes difficult to carry out, the theory behind losing weight is rather simple-- burn more calories than you take in. To lose one pound a week, for example, you must eat 500 calories less per day than you are currently eating.

The reality is that our bodies don't actually need too much calories to survive. Scientists have discovered that the human body can go two to three weeks without food before it dies. The thing that makes weight reducing challenging, on the other hand, is the reason that our bodies will probably fool us straight into supposing that we are starving, even if we're carrying around a lot of extra body fat that can be digested right into energy.

Don't get me wrong -- urge for food does serve a reason. In an ideal-weight woman or man, appetite is considered the cue to take in way more calories, simply because they will very shortly be required to continue standard life functions. An over weight person doesn't necessarily need all of these calories, though, and the desire for food simply tricks us in to assuming that we do.

Certain foods we eat can actually suppress the appetite, make us feel fuller longer and, as a result, cause us to eat less.

Lose Fat by consuming Appetite Suppressing Foods

As a general rule, foods high in fiber will make you feel fuller longer because their bulkiness will stretch the stomach and trigger the body's appetite suppression system. Apples, for example, are a great example of a fiber-rich food that makes us feel full. Oatmeal is also full of fiber and, even though it contains carbohydrates, those "good" carbs will help you feel less hungry. Nuts and seeks, like pine nuts and flax seeds, also trick the body into thinking we are fuller than we really are.

Although not necessarily a "food", simply drinking a full glass of water prior to a meal will suppress the appetite, take up room and result in a lower caloric intake. This is also true for green tea herb, because it is known that it stimulates the production of a hormone contributing to appetite suppression and it's thought to as well boost metabolic rate.

And also, lastly, individuals with a sweet tooth will likely be very happy to understand that dark chocolate is actually a diet aid for the reason that bitterness works as a all-natural hunger controller.
