Pack Active Lifestyle Clothing For A Great Holiday

By Eliza Mendoza

One of the hardest parts of preparing for a journey is deciding on the best clothes to pack. Many travelers have lugged around a pair of heavy jeans that they hardly wore during their trip. Choose some good, stylish active lifestyle clothing though and you'll be comfortable while looking great at the same time.

The type of clothes that you'd use for indoor activities like yoga is great for traveling too. A pair of yoga or jazz pants, for instance, looks good as everyday wear. It can also double up as sleepwear so you don't have to pack pajamas. Add a sweater or a hoodie and you're ready for cool evenings too.

If you're planning on being an active traveler, you'll also need the right clothes for the outdoors. Especially pants should be durable and strong for trekking through rugged terrain. Find a pair that has lots of pockets for those little things like sunscreen. For even more practicality, pack a pair of pants that you can easily convert from long pants into shorts by unzipping the legs.

Good swimwear is essential too. If you're going to spend most of your time on the beach, by all means pack bikinis. However, a tankini that provides more cover is great for water sports. Besides, you'll even be able to wear the top as a sexy, normal top if you pair it with a skirt of nice pants. Men will find that their boardshorts make for great daywear too, especially if they choose more subdued designs instead of loud floral patterns.

You'll find that if you pack the right underwear, you only need to take three pairs and you'll have much more space in your bag. Cotton is of course the most comfortable but underwear made of synthetic fabrics dries much more quickly. That means that you can wash your underwear in the evening and have a clean, dry pair by the time you have to hit the road again the next day. For women, a comfortable sports bra that fits properly is essential not only for adventure sports but also for bumpy bus rides.

The one item you shouldn't neglect is your shoes. You'll likely do plenty of walking and you need footwear that is comfortable. Hiking boots are great but be sure you'll wear then often or they'll simply clutter your luggage. Many hikes can be done in good sneakers instead. Sandals with thick soles are perfect for warmer weather and for travel days. A pair of flip flops is essential too for when your feet need to rest after an active day. Besides, they're perfect for the shower.

Socks are a great item to pack too but you don't need more than three pairs. Choose a fabric that will dry easily, such as Lycra. Another accessory that's always a good idea is a bandanna. It will protect your head from the sun, is a great solution for bad hair days and on a hot day, you simply need to dip it in water and tie it around your head or neck for an instant cooling-off device.

Most clothing stores sell active lifestyle clothing but for the best choices, head to your local sports or outdoors store. Another option is to look online. Buy the most stylish-looking items you can find because then you'll even be able to wear them when you go out.
