By Enid Hinton

It is important for every person to have good health in order to carry on with everyday activities. But in case a person falls sick, he or she can go to a hospital to seek medical attention. When someone falls ill, the extent of the sickness can be determined by the health providers as a serious case or not, that is why there are patients who are admitted and others discharged almost immediately because their case is not serious. In this article, we will be looking at what causes, signs and symptoms and how to treat Lyme disease.

Lyme is a bacterial disease that is caused by the bite of ticks which are infected. It is most common in dogs and affect humans how live in areas where animals are or they like spending time with the animals.

Signs and symptoms of Lyme in humans are flu- the infected is like to be fatigued, get chills, body aches and fever. Another symptom is rashes- the infected person gets a red rash which after some days becomes like a bull eye though the rash is not painful. These are the signs and symptoms in the early stages.

In late stages the symptoms are severe they include heart problems, kidney failure, affects the nerve system, brain damage, swollen glands and even painful joints. In this stage it might be hard to treat the illness unlike the early stages that is why if a person suspects that they have it should go and seek medication immediately.

It is also important to note that Lyme is not contagious. Health providers diagnose the illness when a person has the red rash especially people who live in areas mostly infested by ticks. The antibodies of the infected person may give false results as the antibodies may resist the illness for years so health providers do not take blood test at the early stages of these illnesses.

Antibiotics are given to the sufferer of illness in order to treat it. Additional medicine is given if the person has swollen glands and painful joints. People can also opt to treat it naturally if they do not want drugs. When examining the illness doctors do not do a blood test because the antibodies resist the disease and give false results.

It should also be noted that the infected ticks are harmless to animals and animals such as rats and mice; many carry these insects and pass it to human beings. Another point to note is that children between the age of five to fourteen and adults between the ages of forty to forty nine are most affected by this disease.

It is not a must for one to live in an area infested with ticks to get Lyme. A person might get it through rodents or standing unknowingly where the ticks are. To ensure that one does not get the illness it recommended for them to get vaccinated along with their animals and if a person suspects to have the disease they should seek immediate medical attention instead of waiting for it to reach severe stages. Good health is just as important as seeing a new day that is why we need to stay healthy.
