Boost Your Immune System with Superfoods

By Richard Learman

A healthy body can be maintained by following three practices: get enough exercise, drink a lot of water, and eat foods that are healthy and nutritious. That's all fine and good but the truth about being healthy lies in the details There are a lot of nutritious foods we can eat, but not all of them have the specific nutrients that can help optimize our immune system. They term coined for these foods is superfoods. They are very beneficial in keeping your immune system as strong as it can be. Our focus in this report is to answer the questions: what are these foods? and which ones will strengthen our immune system?

While most people don't think of meat products necessarily as superfoods, pork chops are, indeed, a superfood for your immune system. If you don't eat meat, or at least not pork, you probably won't find this superfood useful, even though it's a true superfood. Just 6-ounces of pork chops per day can reverse rapid weight loss when it isn't desirable. It's not uncommon for an individual to lose weight when they are ill; however, if pork chops are included in their diet, the weight loss should stop. I imagine a lot of you don't believe that it's a good idea to eat pork chops daily. The good news for people with cancer, is that pork chops provide a lot of selenium. Selenium is a natural antioxidant which fights cancer. One good thing about pork chops is that there is no limit to the different ways you can cook and serve them. Boredom won't set in, that's for sure.

There are many types of T Cells, which are activated by zinc. T-cells are important because they help keep the immune system strong. You can get more zinc in your diet than the daily recommended amount just by eating 100 grams of wheat germ a day. This will give you a whopping 17 milligrams of zinc. Wheat germ is so adaptable it can be added to many dishes you prepare. It's easy to sprinkle some of it into your food. It has a great flavor that doesn't detract from whatever it is that you are making. The next superfood, which should come as no surprise, is tea. Drinking tea each day will go a long way towards keeping your immune system healthy and vital. Of course, consuming enough water to ward off dehydration is an important factor in good health. It's well known that if you drink 2 - 3 cups of tea every day, that would increase the amount of interferon sufficiently to keep your T cells healthy. Your T cells are protected, and can do their job, when there is enough interferon in your body to surround them when an attack by bacteria or germs commences. Any tea you drink can help with this, but there are other benefits, as well, if you drink an herbal tea.

Vitamin C doesn't survive well when it's exposed to the cooking process. So, when you add kale to your diet, such as in salads, be sure it's raw. In order to include this important Vitamin C in your diet, and strengthen your immune system, plan at least one meal a week to include raw kale.

You can find different superfoods to help with whatever health concerns you might have. I've even seen a book with over 100 superfoods explained. Once you are aware of which superfoods can enhance your health, it's an easy matter to start incorporating them into the meals you already know how to prepare. This article has made you aware of three superfoods that are easy to include in your diet. You now have information on three superfoods that are helpful in increasing the strength of your immune system; however, there are many, many more. Continue with your research on superfoods and you will find that there are many that can help you maintain your health.
